“It's better to play one note that sounds like you than a hundred that sound like someone else.” – That’s the artistic credo of Philadelphia bass legend Gerald Veasley; and this is your chance to hear first hand just what he means, as he jams with good friends, sax man Walter Beasley, and guitarist Chuck Loeb, in a one-of-a-kind Music at Gretna event. Friday Night Doubleheader!
Cyrus Chestnut Trio and Nnenna Freelon

For our first twin bill in years, we do it right, with the high-powered tag team of Cyrus Chestnut and Nnenna Freelon. Cyrus’s solo keyboard stint in ’06 positively wowed us; and who isn’t wowed by Nnenna? She’s sung with the biggest names in jazz and pop (Herbie Hancock, Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin - you name the star). Cyrus Chestnut and Nnenna Freelon. Together for one concert. One set each. One epic night. Cyrus's Site Watch Cyrus Nnenna's Site Watch Nnenna

Few groups have been relevant – let alone great – as long as The Four Freshmen. Founded in 1948, the Freshmen were praised by Woodie Herman, got their big break with Stan Kenton, have outlived the British invasion, disco, heavy metal, hair bands, two decades of rap, and the retirement of each original member, to win Downbeat Magazines’ Vocal Group of the Year over half a century later. Now that’s staying power!Artist Link Watch

Recipient of the 2006 MacArthur Fellows Program “Genius Grant”, Regina Carter is without doubt the most gifted violinist in the history of jazz – perhaps the most gifted violinist on the planet in the last half century, jazz, classical or otherwise. Think we’re exaggerating? It doesn’t take a genius to find out - the proof is in the hearing. Artist Link Watch Buy Regina's Music
